000 + Canepa

000 Magazine and Canepa setup a CarWeek Open House with a tour of the Canepa Facility. Both Pete (000) and Zach (Canepa) did an amazing job at telling us the story and sharing details about cars that we don’t all know, regardless of how much we thing we know about cars. Pete specifically is a great writer, but he is also an amazing story teller. One thing that stuck from the many conversations Pete shared, was the charter of 000 Magazine, which is to document from the sources now for when we can’t talk to the people who made Porsche be what it is today. And for that I thank them.

It was great to meet Rich (best license plate ver EL XNGN) and FD’s Darin.

Early bird gets the best story

I believe I was the first person to arrive at Canepa, before they opened the parking. Zach welcomed me and pointed me to park anywhere, even next to Pete’s car. I darted directly to Pete’s car. Here is a man whom I look up to, not only due to his kind nature but mainly because of what he represents in the auto community, but I had never thought about what car he would drive.

I drove slowly toward a 991.2 Irish Green with those large and bright yellow PDDC brakes. I parked next to this car, wondering if it was a S, GTS, even a GT3 touring, but to my surprise, it was a Base Carrera, with amazing brakes and, yes, manual transmission. 370 HP and 3153 lbs of weight.

So not a S, GTS or GT3 Touring but the reason why this is a base was the best part. During the testing of the 991.2 series, Pete drive the base Carrera hard enough that a NA GT3RS had a hard time keeping up, so much that the driver (can’t recall the name) had to put the radio down to focus and drive. (it is known these drivers do not put the radio down even if drifting a 918… so Pete was sure his 991.2 base with massive brakes is all he needed. It narrow, its beautiful and it has all the torque you need from the twin turbo flax six power plant.

Red dirt

I enjoyed the Jeep so much. After returning to Campbell, I started to notice all the Jeep’s around me. 964…Jeep… just kidding.

Reading 000 in Kauai

I love having a 000 Magazine when I travel. This time was no different. Issue 0010 was amazing. Enjoying it with my 2 boys was beyond amazing.

One of the articles, in fact 2 articles talked about ST models and the complexity of tracing them, as they were developed by mashing up a Carrera S and a Carrera T, or sometimes parts of the S on a T, or all of the above… So I got another crazy idea that justifies my hunger for loss weight on Carrera (currently at 3075lbs) what if I called her an ST? Sacrilege? Passion? time will tell

Polihale Beach

A jeep is a jeep for a reason, so I drove it almost to the water at Polihale beach. It was so refreshing to have a car that can go anywhere “almost” and to be able to maneuver it as if I knew what I was doing.

Dad & Son Drive on a Jeep

Our little man Alexander had some sleep to catch up, so Andrew and I headed out for some D&S driving. We drove up towards the waterfalls and continued on. Such a nice time.

Renting a Jeep

A dream come true. As funny as it may seem ever since visiting Kauai the first time a good 6 years ago, I always wanted to rent a Jeep. This time I took the plunge and rented one. Andrew asked for a white one. This year it seemed everyone had a Jeep, but not everyone knows how to drive one. Including me.
