Tire fail 2x

Where do I start? I had been looking for wheels for the longest time. HRE was interesting, Vossen seemed to have some interesting ones.

Then Suncoast Porsche sent out a deal for a 2015  carrera style wheels painted in the Equipment black on chrome.

So I went for it. As I posted on prior posts. I got the wheels at the office (see below)

Then I took them home.

I did not notice that the tires were drilled in order to not be re-used, something that was clearly stated at the moment of purchase. And not to end there but then I took the car to California Wheels.

having bought a new set of (here is the new problem) REAR WHEELS...  Darn it! I have just replaced these less than 4 months ago! I made the mistake of not ordering the front which are originals from when I bought the car.  So now I have to wait until Wednesday of next week.

Cant wait to see them installed. Just need to get my head in focus.

Scarlett

After several days away from my cars, I decided to start off the week with Scarlett. As always she drove very nicely, yes with 40 years of history on her back, but smooth and nice. This car is always the center of discussion. From the dog walker stopping by to chat about the car, or the coworker who sees me park and notices how beautiful the red looks under a nice sun light. It is by far the most fun to drive, she sparks conversation that is genuine. Scarlett unlike the 991 Carrera, and despite her Red color, she is much more relaxed and less ostentatious.

RWD

The rear wheel drive experience.

Recently I brought home a new set a wheels for Carrera. The rear wheels are so wide. For a moment I thought I got the wrong wheels. So wide. This made me think about the reason why RWD for this car requires so much rubber.

Turns out the tires were expired and I need to replace them. By end of this week, Carrera will sport some very cool set of wheels.

Wheels

When I ordered my 991S I thought long and hard about the style my car would have. I always wanted to classic look, no trim on the window but I left the wheels as classic carrera wheels.

here she is in Austria

The car looks amazing.

The car looks amazing.

Then I saw the R. And things changed...Soon these will go on Carrera.

PRSB Plates

Vanity plates...

After 16 year sin the US, I finally decided to put vanity plates on my cars. Scarlett came with an amazing 912E from 1970's and now I have put both Isabella (986) with a 1950's PRSB986 and Carrera with PRSB991.

PRSB stands for PoRScherB followed by the model number.

Luftgekühlt 2017

Air cooled Porsche's in LA's finest Porsche event: Luftgekühlt 4

I drove down to LA with the family. Andrew, my wife and I headed south on 101 driving our Sapphire blue Macan. This car, the most recent purchase of the German Car Stable, is a fine automobile. The 4 cylinder turbo engine is enough to propel the fairy lightweight family of 325 pounds. It drove very nicely at high speeds (120 MPH) and it took us to a stop when needed like no other SUV. I don't miss the higher power, this 4 banger is enough for this car, after all it is a Cayjun or Cayenne Jr. and for a 6-8 hour drive it fits 3 very comfortably.

Driving in LA was pretty cool, the moonroof comes handy to have Andrew search for Planes and helicopters, or an interesting high rise with some art on one of its side. LA is full of things to see. We say the Endeavor,  the PECLA, and last but not least the Luftgekühlt. We chose the Andaz in West Hollywood as our place to stay, a very trendy place, very artsy and apparently full of celebrities. Overall an amazing drive and stay.

I enjoyed learning about drivers in LA, despite what people say, I think they have better drivers in LA compared to Silicon Valley. In LA they have bad traffic but decent drivers. In SV we have bad drivers and the occasional bad traffic. Sometimes I think about our life in LA. Could be interesting.

Le Mans

Motorsport is my new hobby. Well at least my TV hobby. It started in 2015 with the Le Mans race. I was in China traveling for business and I was trapped between business meetings and my iPad running a live stream of the 24h of Le Mans. I got to see most of it, but not all. Porsche won (Dumas, Jani, Lieb).

2015 I missed the finish and 2016 I sat through the broadcast at home, again Porsche won (Hükenburg, Bamber, Tandy).

2017 started off with Daytona, I missed going with my buddy Eric, next time I will go. RSR debut.

I want to go to Le Mans. A long trek but I think it is the next experience I should have. I want to have Andrew be old enough to be aware and hopefully take the whole family on a week long vacation to France while stopping by at Le Mans. Dreams are planned and then they are experienced.

2017 promises to be a good Year. In preparation I bought the graphic novel Le Mans, and amazing novel leaving you wanting more of it. Cant wait for Ep. 2. Then i bought Le Mans with Steve McQueen and watched 24 hour war a documentary between Ford and Ferrari. This year Porsche has a new 919

Porsche Eyes & Lines

P O R S C H E has an incredible history. I often find myself looking at the car as if I had never seen it before. And, I notice. I notice the lines, perfect lines and curves that shape the iconic cars. The eyes tell me stories, some of me and the car, some of the car and its past, other owners, cities, countries and of my cars, the same origin Stuttgart.

Canepa Dad & Son Drive March 2017

This week Andrew and I did our first Dad & Son drive. We headed out to see cars, despite the requests of choo choo trains (another D&S drive for the future). We had a short but pretty cool visit to Canepa. They had 2 Carrera GT's, Porsche 959, Porsche Speedster, Porsche 356B, FORD GT, Porsche 911T in a beautiful green!, Black Lamborghini (not hot girl in a bikini nearby thought...oh those childhood memories! Cannonball Run was fun!), Andrew liked the Mercury T&C, and the Porsche Carrera RS all of these...for Sale (if only I could.)

Then we went to were the legends live, 917 GULF, Porsche ROTHMANs Racer and so many more. Definitely a place to visit.

Below is my copilot and mini boss presenting these beautiful cars.

P O R S C H E

I went ahead and added a black matte P O R S C H E badge to my SilverGT Carrera S. I took the car to Porsche Stevens Creek to have them align the car. Unfortunately my trusted alignment shop had failed me for the first time ever (Custom Alignment) This failure pushed me to the dealer, now I am even thinking of taking Scarlett for suspension work @ PSC.

PORSCHERB DRIVE: : LA LIT & TOYS 2017

I had planned since a while back to go to LA to the LA LIT & TOYS show. This is a gathering of people with new parts, and old parts for old cars as well as literature (books, manuals, repair instructions, electrical diagrams) and toys for all ages.

Met up with Hamed & Meredith, Dennis and Nels. Even saw Michael Hodos. Good times with good people and great cars!

Santana Row Cars & Croissants by 100OCT

Sunday February 26, 10:30 am I walk into the Row with my beautiful family in tow. I say Tow, because they could not stop, I pulled them through all the Ferraris and Lamborghini's, my goal was one. To see the Porsche 911R. 2 911R's and one 918, oh Porsche Heaven if there is one.

Mr. Andrew Zalasin, whom I never met prior to today has a rare collection of black Porsche's among other cars. His 911R spec is pretty amazing, black on black stripes, red Porsche stickers and Red center lock wheels. The other cars a GT3RS and a GT4 fully and totally black.

As I approached the car, I saw a guy that seemed to be the owner of the cars. I introduced myself and asked if he was Zalasin, turns out it was. He was a very gentle person, introduced us to Monique and his business partner Farahn (I think). At this point I was blown away by the car and the man himself. I imagined him being a very different person. It was a true honor to meet him and more importantly for him to meet my wife and my son Andrew, whom he shares a cool first name.

The rest of the day was amazing. We sat to eat lunch in front of the 911R's. It was interesting to see how the white 911R did not gain much attention, the Zalasin 911R had all the attention on it.

Carrera Friday

Mother nature has a way of reminding us of its power. We go about our own ways and create amazing roads on the canyons of Natures playground. Fire, Water, Air and Earth. Water came to the Bay Area after a long period of draught. It swept away roads, it flooded places and overloaded dams. I do feel for the people who suffered during these times. But personally, and car-egocentrically, I left with few, very few of my favorite roads to drive. HWY 1 is Closed, HWY 9 is Closed, Skyline HWY 35 Closed. Fortunately, I have what is called (self proclaimed, clearly a naive move on my side) Scherb's Pass.

Lower part of the Scherb Pass.
